Dr. May Tee, MD, MPH, FACS was recruited to Howard University in January 2023 as an Associate Professor in Surgical Oncology and Program Director for the Surgery Residency. She has performed hundreds of complex general surgical, hepatobiliary, pancreatic, upper abdominal and gastrointestinal operations, often via a minimally invasive robotic / laparoscopic approach, with excellent clinical and oncologic outcomes. Her advanced surgical procedures are featured in both the American College of Surgeons and Society of Surgical Oncology operative video libraries. She has been involved in surgical education throughout her career, from obtaining ACGME accreditation for an osteopathic based surgical residency program at her prior position to sitting on an advisory committee for the American Board of Surgery Entrustable Professional Activities initiative.

Dr. Christine Nembhard was recruited to Howard University as an Assistant Professor in Surgery and Simulation Lab Director in November 2020. She began her training at Howard University Hospital as a surgery-preliminary intern and matched as categorical general surgery resident after her intern year. Following fellowship in colon and rectal surgery, she was recruited back to Howard University Hospital. She performs a full spectrum of benign and malignant colorectal surgery, often via a minimally invasive robotic, laparoscopic, or endoscopic approach. She is an outstanding surgical educator and was promoted to the Associate Program Director role in April 2023.

Dr. Terrence Fullum is a Professor of Surgery with tenure and Chair of the Department of Surgery. He has dedicated most of his illustrious career to training future leaders in surgery at Howard University. In addition to holding several leadership positions at Howard University, he has held leadership positions within the National Medical Association (NMA), American College of Surgeons (ACS) DC Chapter, Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgery (SAGES), Society of Black Academic Surgeons (SBAS), and Alpha Omega Honor (AOA) Society. Dr. Fullum’s track record for leadership is rivaled only by his excellence in teaching, having received dozens of awards and accolades for his compassionate teaching in surgical education, locally, nationally, and internationally.
