Interview Criteria

The application deadline is September 25, 2024.

Applicants must submit an application through ResidencyCAS and must be registered to participate in the match though the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). We will not be accepting applications through ERAS.

We will be extending invitations to interview with us on October 29th, 2024
The decision to invite an applicant for a required interview is based on a holistic review of:

• Medical School Transcript
• USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Scores
• Community service
• Dedication to the Howard University mission
• Personal qualities including integrity and resilience
• Four letters of recommendation including a letter from the department chair. It is strongly recommended (but not required) that one of the letters is a Standardized Letter of Evaluation (SLOE).
• Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)/Dean’s Letter 
• Honors and Awards, including Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society

• November 15
• November 22
• December 6
• December 13

An informal social hour will be held virtually with the residents on three evenings during application season. This will provide an opportunity to learn about the program from the residents.
