NIH-HOWARD Intramural Research Collaboration (NIH-HUIRC) Information
Purpose:
The purpose is to address prospectively the routine and recurring issues that arise in development of scientific research collaborations, joint training programs, and joint appointments between NIH and Howard University in the areas of medical sciences, life sciences, physical sciences, computer science, and engineering.
The first phase of the NIH-HUIRC will be a two-year pilot in the College of Medicine (COM) to engage junior faculty, graduate and medical students to identify innovative ways to address the issues aforementioned. Participants will acquire the skills necessary to obtain external grants and increase scholarly productivity with bi-annual reviews of progress. Upon successful implementation of the pilot, the partnership’s subsequent phases will expand to include faculty and students from other academic programs in the University.
