Interview Criteria

Applicants must apply through ResidencyCAS and must be registered to participate in the match through the National Residency Matching Program (NRMP). We will not be accepting applications through ERAS.

We will be extending invitations to interview with us on October 28, 2025.

The decision to invite an applicant for a required interview is based on a holistic review of:

• Medical School Transcript
• USMLE Step 1 and Step 2 Scores
• Will accept COMLEX 1 score
• Community service
• Dedication to the Howard University mission
• Personal qualities that align with the Howard University mission
• Four letters of recommendation that include a SLOE and a letter from the department chair.
• Medical Student Performance Evaluation (MSPE)/Dean’s Letter
• Honors and Awards, including Alpha Omega Alpha and Gold Humanism Honor Society

An informal social hour will be held virtually with the residents on three evenings during application season. This will provide an opportunity to learn about the program from the residents.
