Addiction Medicine Fellowship

Welcome to the Howard University Hospital Addiction Medicine Fellowship

It is our intent to provide the best quality training for our residents.

We have an initial accreditation by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education(ACGME).  The Howard University Hospital Addiction Medicine Fellowship (HUAMF) program is a one-year interdisciplinary program.  It is designed to educate and train fellows to learn how to provide care for persons with unhealthy substance use, substance use disorders (SUDs), and other addictive disorders.

Consistent with the mission of Howard University to focus on the education and training of underrepresented minority or disadvantaged students and trainees, the mission of the Howard University Addiction Medicine Fellowship Training Program is to train physicians

1)to provide expert clinical care for patients with a broad range of substance use disorders,

2)to teach and train medical students, residents, and other health professionals about substance use disorders,

3)to advance scientific knowledge and expertise about prevention, early identification, intervention and treatment for substance use disorders, and

4)to become leaders in the field of Addiction Medicine.
